Explosion proof electrical equipment is electrical equipment that can be safely used in explosive hazardous areas.

However, explosion-proof electrical equipment may lose its explosion-proof capability after a certain period of use or due to original defects, leading to explosive accidents. The common phenomena are as follows:

01 Explosion proof shell corroded and damaged. The protective shell of explosion-proof electrical equipment loses its original strength due to corrosion caused by surrounding media, rusting through the shell, structural deterioration, etc., resulting in the loss of explosion-proof capability of explosion-proof electrical equipment.

02 Explosion proof protective shell is damaged by electrochemical corrosion. The metal casing is charged under conditions such as electrical leakage and potential drift, and the contact between the charged metal and the air medium is equivalent to the reaction of the battery, causing the metal casing to corrode. Causing electrical appliances to lose their explosion-proof capability.

03 External force and mechanical impact damage. Damage to the protective casing caused by collisions with other equipment and mechanical materials at the work site, as well as damage to the casing caused by unreasonable force during installation.

04 Shell fracture and damage caused by excessive temperature. Damage to the protective shell caused by the cold shrinkage deformation of the protective shell material structure due to climate adaptation issues in cold regions, resulting in shell fracture.

Damage caused by unreasonable installation. Damage, loss, and loss of protective functions caused by failure to install explosion-proof electrical equipment in accordance with requirements.

Due to factors such as unqualified sealing, inadequate handling of sealing materials during installation and maintenance, loose sealing surface joints, damaged sealing components, inappropriate or missing sealing fixation and fasteners, the explosion-proof performance is missing or weak.

07 Quality issues with the explosion-proof of electrical equipment, including unqualified explosion-proof shell materials and unreasonable structural forms, which result in the inability to meet the required load-bearing capacity; Internal wiring facilities are prone to looseness, and unreasonable internal circuits can easily ignite or heat up; Unreasonable mechanical structural components, high equipment temperature, and internal water accumulation may cause malfunctions in explosion-proof electrical equipment.

Due to the actual changes in the hazardous area caused by changes in production facilities, the electrical equipment in this area has not been updated to explosion-proof equipment in a timely manner.

09 Explosion proof electrical equipment selection error, intrinsic safety electrical equipment uses non intrinsic safety voltage and increased safety enclosures for generating light, heat and other line equipment.

As end users of explosion-proof electrical equipment, it is necessary to regularly inspect these devices even if they are installed and used in explosive hazardous areas. This is not only a requirement from various safety supervision departments, but also a high regard for personnel and property safety.
